If you’ve ever been on a long road trip or plane ride, nothing makes the time go by faster than your favorite movie.  Traveling no longer needs to be a chore because portable DVD players are available with every feature you’ll need to have an enjoyable experience.  In this article we’ll take a look at the different features, then you can decide which ones are important to you.

Dimensions:  If you’re willing trade weight and power management for picture size then bigger is better.  A larger screen size really enhances the viewing experience.  It may add a few pounds and be bulkier but for movie buffs a larger screen is a must.

Disc Formats: If you like to listen to CD’s in addition to your DVD’s then make sure your player has the ability to play all types of media.  These can include, but are not limited to, DVD’s, CD’s, CD-R, CD-RW, Data CD’s (pictures), and MP3 CD’s (fit tons of songs).

Outputs: If you want to use your DVD player for watching movies on a regular TV then make sure it has the outputs you need.  If you’re only concerned that it will play on a TV then analogue outputs are sufficient.  These are the video (yellow), and audio (red/ white) outputs.  If you like high quality picture and sound than make sure it has HDMI outputs or at least S-Video and optical digital audio outs.

Battery Life: Make sure that if you must rely on battery (plane ride) then make sure it has a long battery life.  Nothing is more annoying than having your favorite movie cut short right before the exciting conclusion because the battery bonks.  Hopefully, you’ll be able to utilize the above guide to features to help find the perfect DVD player.
