I had my dvd player, which is a surround sound unit, plugged into a power strip, along with the tv, cell phone charger, and a lamp. My roomate plugged in my laptop to charge it, and we heard a very loud noise and both the tv and the dvd player stopped working. I really dont care about the tv b/c i had just bought it two hours before this happened and it is under warranty, but the dvd player is very nice and is a little older. I took it apart and noticed that it has a fuse, but it looked ok. Any advice?

Color is fine when just watching the TV. We are on Dish network. TV is a HD Magnavox 1080i about 9 months old. The DVD player is a sylvania which plays both VHS or DVD 3 or 4 years old.

My tv is old, and only has one set of plugs (which the direct tv reciever is plugged into). The direct tv runs off of the “video” setting on my tv, which is where the dvd player used to opperate out of. So I plugged my dvd player into the direct tv box, but can’t get into the right imput mode (or something) to watch my dvd. Any suggestions?

I have an older TV, it works great and it only has one port, cable in port. I want to connect a DVD, or my PS2 to this TV in my spare room. How do I connect a DVD player to an older TV? I have cable hooked to the TV, I do not want to purchase another TV at this time it is a good TV, and this is only in the spare room so there is not need for a new TV, I am just looking for some sort of adaptor or splitter that would allow me to connect both cable and a DVD player to this TV.
Thanks.

I have an older one that doesn’t play them correctly and my xbox just got screwed up from playing them. My girlfriends junky dvd player plays them fine however. Any suggestions?
I have an old dvd player, that connects to the tv. The problem is that the tv only has one input which would normally connect to the dvd directly, but in this case it’s being used by the converter box. So do you have any idea how to do this?
